Education
In connection with the Laser Centre VU and the VU University there are a few Masters programmes that can be followed. In each case the Masters program is a two-year study (120 ECTS) and there is one year (60 ECTS) of a laboratory training stage, that can be taken in one of the research groups in the Laser Centre. All Masters courses are taught in English, and English is the language in the research groups; the Masters Thesis will be written in English as well.1. Masters in Physical Sciences
This Masters Program, setup jointly by the VU University and the University of Amsterdam (UvA), offers eduction in modern physical science covering physics and chemistry aspects of systems at atomic, molecular and larger scales. Based on internationally high standing and active research programs in the Amsterdam area, the master programme integrates teaching and research in the following different master tracks: Condensed Matter Science, Laser Sciences and Molecular Photoscience, Biophysics, Biomedical Physics, Computational and Theoretical Chemistry, and Theoretical Chemistry. For information on the specific courses and the program see: Masters in Physical Sciences.

2. Masters in Analytical Sciences
The Master programme Analytical Sciences is the result of a unique collaboration of four strong analytical groups from the Vrije Universiteit (VU) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). As these groups show complementary expertise, a broad range of analytical topics is covered. Students can acquire a fundamental understanding of theory and general concepts in Analytical Chemistry, they can study specialized topics in depth, and they can obtain practical experience in various research fields. The one year practical stage for the Masters Thesis can be taken in one of the groups within LCVU.
